We are with Nepal

On Saturday morning, we awoke to the devastating news of the earthquake in Nepal. Our hearts are heavy by the loss of life, homes, and livelihoods faced by so many.

For years, we at HU have been working hand in hand with our Nepali partners, seeking to improve labor conditions at brick kilns and labor recruitment for the millions of Nepalis who work abroad. While we will continue to work on these important issues, right now we are also looking into ways to best help recovery and reconstruction efforts.

In the coming days, will also focus our work on behalf of migrants in the Gulf and Malaysia.  We ask that all workers who seek to return to Nepal to be with their loved ones or to mourn the loss of their families be granted exit permits from their employers in the Gulf.

At times like this, no one should be denied the right to be with their loved ones.

The Nepali people are in our hearts and thoughts.
