This week, heads of state from around the world come together in New York for the annual U.N. General Assembly—addressing a variety of pressing issues, including the crisis in Sudan. Anticipating a high-level meeting this week on the issue, Humanity United and 122 other organizationsfrom across the globe recently joined together to demand the U.N. Security Council move swiftly to ensure humanitarian aid in Sudan’s South Kordofan.

One year ago today, South Sudan separated from the rest of Sudan and became an independent country. Humanity United, along with more than 150 civil society organizations, is marking the anniversary by asking leaders in both countries and the international community to choose peace and ensure that innocent civilians do not lose their lives in the midst of the turmoil that has followed independence.
