Today, Humanity United's Vice President of Policy & Government Relations spoke in Washington, D.C. at the launch of the Department of Labor's new toolkit for businesses, "Reducing Child Labor and Forced Labor: A Toolkit for Responsible Businesses."

The guide is the first to be developed by the U.S. government to help businesses combat child labor and forced labor in their global supply chains.

Today, the Alliance to End Slavery and Trafficking (ATEST) – a Humanity United-supported coalition of U.S.-based human rights organizations – released a roadmap for the second-term Obama Administration to follow as it works to fulfill its commitment to eliminate modern-day slavery, including 75 recommendations for the White House and the relevant federal agencies.

Today, Human Rights Watch released a 39-page report, “Under Siege,” which is based on five research missions to Sudan's Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan states and to refugee camps in South Sudan. The report, and this new video featuring survivors, documents the effects of the Sudanese government’s aerial bombardment and other attacks on communities in the region.

As the world celebrates Human Rights Day on Dec. 10, Humanity United and a team of human rights groups are calling on President Obama to appoint an envoy to lead a coordinated U.S. response to the escalating crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
